Biomes

Biomes are distinct geographical areas around the world. Each biome has its own unique type of climate and plants and animals that are adapted to that biome.

Temparate grassland biomes charateristics include fertile soil, grasses, not much rainfall.

In the grasslands of SD I have seen all the wildlife expected to live here from buffalo to ferrets.

I'd like to see a ferret. I've seen antelope, bison, prairie dogs, but no ferrets.

I took a project wild class a few summers ago at the Badlands called "Foxes and Ferrets." We banded a few kit foxes and then spotlighted a ferret at 3:00 am! It was a fun class.
