Odyssey
1. Leopold was trying to show the concept on how humans/settlers have changed the cycle that naturally occurred for many years prior to them arriving. By farming (Y) it takes so much from the land, just letting the land be in its natural way, the cycles flow freely (X).
2. The prezi was an impressive tool! I think in my classroom, I would use my interactive whiteboard and the student’s lab notebooks to track the journey of X and Y while we read. We have would also work on questioning (as seen in the Prezi) as we read, as part of being active readers. This text would be a fabulous way for the students to have some discussions about environmental impact.
