Odyssey

After reading the first two paragraphs of this essay, I thought to myself yeh...I get it, "circle of life" like I leaned in 5th grade, (and from the Lion King) But as I read rest, I thought, well I do get it, but do I really understand what is going on. I guess to me the atom is life. It will continue to be the atom designed to be "life" for the living plants and animals. Without the the X, the acorn does not fall, the deer starves, the Indian does not eat and so on and so forth. When the living dies, the atoms return to help keep something else alive.

I liked the Prezi graph. This is a great visual tool for the kids. It shows how things come full circle. You can use X to be an atom, bacteria, virus, maybe even a seed.

One of the most mind blowing things to me is that we are made up of inanimate material. There is nothing intrinsically alive about the hydrogen, oxygen and carbon from which we are made. We are made of the literal stuff of earth, the very self same atoms as matter is neither created nor destroyed.

You are right! It is mind blowing. Also to think of how perfectly designed a plant a human, and yes even a snake are...and all with atoms that will outlive the very life they support. God is good!
